According to foreign media reports, the United States researchers at the University of Illinois, has invented a new form of computer attack, it can make use of the computer’s processor (CPU) to control the user’s computer loopholes.
Over the years, hackers have been through software vulnerabilities to attacks. But this week two, the University of Illinois, researchers have demonstrated a new attack: by changing the computer’s processor to attack computers.
Of course, in reality to launch such an attack may be non-some twists and turns, but such attacks is extremely subtle, it is almost impossible to detect.
To launch such an attack, the researchers used a specific kind of programmable processors, and then malicious firmware into the processor memory. This could be disguised as legitimate users access to computers.
Illinois State University Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Samuel King said, the processor programmed to only a small part of changes processor circuit can be. King said: “This is like ‘ultimate back door’, with no software vulnerabilities.”
Currently, the University of Illinois, is developing a tool that can be detected attacks processors.
